New addition to the Mountains-to-sea trail

The brand new footbridge and trail that connects the town of Hillsborough’s Riverwalk to the Historic Occoneechee Speedway trail had its grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony late July. Summit’s Kevin O’Dell was the project manager for this project, as well as the Riverwalk, and was in attendance to help celebrate. The project consisted of a 95’ long pedestrian bridge that has the same design and materials as the two bridges already in the Riverwalk. Classical American Homes Preservation Trust owns the Historic Ayr Mount property where the trail is located. The cost of the new bridge and trail construction was $260,000. This project is another important link to the Mountains-to-sea trail that will eventually connect 1150 miles of trail, over the entire span of North Carolina.
