HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. – Our very own Hillsborough was ranked the third coolest small town in America on CNN.com by Budget Travel. The list ranked the 2015 top ten coolest small towns out of 385 nominations. To make the Top 10 Coolest Small Towns in America list, towns must have a population less than 10,000 and fit Budget Travel’s definition of “cool.”

Budget Travel Editor in Chief, Robert Firpo-Cappiello, defined “a cool small town as one with an energetic vibe, often blending community spirit with a vibrant arts scene, unique local history and gorgeous scenery.” Tell us that doesn’t describe Hillsborough!

From the notorious Riverwalk, Gateway Center in downtown, sidewalk and roadway improvements, pavement resurfacing, GIS mapping of utilities, and stormwater among other services, Summit has completed numerous projects in and for the Town of Hillsborough. Headquartered in Hillsborough with employees who are residents, have children in area schools and have served/currently serve as president of the Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce, Summit takes great pride in calling Hillsborough home.
